Refund and Cancellation Policy

This Refund and Cancellation Policy applies to any fees or charges associated with RaktaBandhu services, prepared in compliance with the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020.

1. No Charges for Blood Donation Facilitation

RaktaBandhu does NOT charge donors or recipients for:

  • Registration on the Platform
  • Donor-recipient matching services
  • Communication facilitation
  • Blood donation coordination

Blood donation is voluntary and non-remunerated as per Indian law and NBTC guidelines.

2. Applicability

This policy applies to:

  • Premium subscription fees (if applicable)
  • Donation/contribution to platform sustainability (voluntary)
  • Any other paid features or services

Currently, RaktaBandhu offers services free of charge. If we introduce paid features in the future, this policy will apply.

3. Voluntary Contributions (Donations to Platform)

3.1 Non-Refundable

Voluntary donations or contributions made to support RaktaBandhu's operations are non-refundable.

3.2 Exceptions

Refunds may be considered in cases of:

  • Technical Error: Duplicate payment due to system malfunction
  • Unauthorized Transaction: Payment made without User authorization (subject to verification)
  • Fraudulent Activity: Payment resulting from hacking or fraud

4. Premium Features (If Introduced)

If we introduce premium features (e.g., advanced search, priority notifications):

4.1 Subscription Fees

  • Clearly disclosed before purchase
  • Charged monthly, annually, or as specified
  • Auto-renewal (with notification and opt-out option)

4.2 Free Trial Period

  • If a free trial is offered, no charges during trial
  • Cancellation before trial end = no charges
  • Failure to cancel = automatic subscription and billing

4.3 Refund Eligibility

Eligible for Full Refund:

  • Service not delivered due to Platform error
  • Subscription cancelled within 7 days of purchase (cooling-off period)
  • Technical issue preventing access to paid features
  • Unauthorized charges

Not Eligible for Refund:

  • Change of mind after cooling-off period
  • Failure to use the service
  • Account suspension due to Terms violation
  • Partial usage of subscription period

4.4 Partial Refund

Pro-rated refund may be provided for long-term subscriptions (e.g., annual) if cancelled mid-term, calculated based on unused months.

5. Cancellation of Services

5.1 Cancellation by User

You may cancel:

  • Free Account: Anytime by deleting your account (no fees)
  • Paid Subscription: Through account settings or by contacting support
    • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle
    • No refund for remaining days in the billing period (unless within cooling-off period)

5.2 Cancellation by Platform

We may cancel or suspend your services for:

  • Violation of Terms and Conditions
  • Fraudulent activity
  • Non-payment (for paid services)
  • Platform discontinuation (with 30 days notice and pro-rated refund)

6. Cancellation of Blood Requests

6.1 Donor Cancellation

  • Donors may withdraw from donation commitments
  • Should notify recipient as early as possible
  • No financial implications (as no payment involved)

6.2 Recipient Cancellation

  • Recipients may cancel blood requests
  • Should notify donors to avoid inconvenience
  • No fees or penalties

7. Refund Process

7.1 How to Request Refund

Include:

  • Transaction ID
  • Payment date and amount
  • Reason for refund request
  • Supporting documents (if any)

7.2 Refund Timeline

  • Review: Within 7 business days of request
  • Approval/Rejection: Notification via email
  • Processing: 7-10 business days after approval
  • Credit: Refund to original payment method

7.3 Refund Method

  • Original payment method (credit card, debit card, UPI, wallet)
  • If original method unavailable, bank transfer to your account

7.4 Processing Charges

Payment gateway charges (typically 2-3%) are non-refundable. Refund amount = Paid amount - Gateway charges

8. Chargebacks and Disputes

8.1 Chargeback Prohibition

You agree to contact us first for refund issues before initiating a chargeback with your bank/card issuer.

Unauthorized chargebacks may result in:

  • Account suspension
  • Legal action for recovery of costs
  • Reporting to payment processors

8.2 Dispute Resolution

Disputes regarding charges or refunds will be resolved through:

  • Good faith negotiation
  • Grievance Redressal Mechanism
  • Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (if applicable)

9. Third-Party Charges

RaktaBandhu is NOT responsible for:

  • Charges by blood banks for blood processing or component separation
  • Hospital or medical facility fees
  • Transportation costs
  • Charges by third-party service providers

These are separate transactions not controlled by RaktaBandhu.

10. Taxes

All fees, if applicable, are exclusive of applicable taxes (GST, etc.) unless stated otherwise. Taxes are calculated and added at checkout.

11. Changes to Pricing

We reserve the right to change pricing for paid features with:

  • 30 days notice to existing subscribers
  • Grandfathering: Existing subscribers may retain current pricing for one billing cycle
  • Option to Cancel: You may cancel before price increase takes effect

12. Force Majeure

We are not liable for refunds or service interruptions due to:

  • Natural disasters
  • War, terrorism, civil unrest
  • Government restrictions or regulations
  • Pandemics or public health emergencies
  • Telecommunications or internet failures

13. Modification of Policy

We may update this Refund and Cancellation Policy with notice. Changes are effective upon posting.
